Hi All

Any one got a blank copy of the agreement that Studio Center has its roster member’s sign.

If you do, I would really love to read it. PM me and I will tell ya where to send it.

I don't mind if its been wadded up and wrinkled some, just don't send me a shredded one Smile

Let keep this between us, I will. Wink

I did VO work for Studio Center in the 80s & 90s. It was under different ownership then. I lived in Norfolk and went to their studio.
Studio Center produces commercials for some of the biggest advertisers in the world. They do very high quality work.

If you're on their roster, you still have to be chosen by the Agency contracting the work. SC doesn't pick the talent, though they may help the client by offering some suggestions. Some of the very best talent on their roster get a lot of work, and have for many years. Many of them live in Norfolk/Virginia Beach and go to the SC studio.

Things may have changed under the new ownership, though Woody Prettyman has a good reputation as a person and manager. People who work for him, like him. I know some of them.

Five or six years ago already I had contacted Studio Center. They were eager to sign me up, and I was eager to affix my signature to the dotted line, too... until I read that I couldn't be listed or promoted in any way by any other entity (at least, those with a web site). I had no trouble at all politely declining.

Some time later, it appeared from what I saw in Google results that SC was buying studios around the country; I'm guessing in an effort to strengthen their presence.

Gee... look at the time.

Gotta marvel at a business model that depends on what SC appears to want to do, AND buy up studios. So, were they sitting around one day drinking coffee and somebody said, "I got it! We'll sign voice talent to tight contracts, don't let them market themselves elsewhere, maybe throw some business their way sometimes, and buy up all the studios so wherever they turn, they have to work with us!"?

Did I miss anything?

Their studio in LA was a tiny, dirty hole in the wall. Maybe it was a fixer-upper.
