Is it better to have one demo that demonstrates a little taste of many areas of your expertise, ie, commercials, narrations, political, books on tape? Or is it more effective to use multiple demos with each one focusing on different areas of you talents?????

Each genre needs it's own demo.

Better question is "what do you do which requires separate demo's"?

If you have a specific genre in mind which you are actively marketing toward, then create a specific website or sub website for that specific genre which allows customers in that arena a look at that specific style of you vocal abilities.

Having ten or twenty demos on your main website of different tastes and varieties is at best tedious for those who cruise by and want to see and hear your voice. On the other hand those searching for a specific genre or style are not likely to review all of the specific demo's you might offer on one site.

Doing multiple demos is a subjective idea, and you must decide if you have the time and the talents to be" a jack of all trades, master of none".

Yes, you can get by with one demo, but why limit yourself if you don't have to? Here's a sampling of the demos I have on file:

E-Learning
Imaging

Producer (spots I've produced with other talent)
Santa and the Elves

Technical and Science
Television Narration
Video Games
Plus many samplers of advertising campaigns I've written and or voiced

Once or twice a year I find myself quickly editing together a new demo in response to a specific need or request. Now this might seem a bit much to someone who doesn't edit and produce their own demos, but I'll tell you it's a craft worth developing.

Why make 57 demos simply to get bogged down with pointless auditions from people who are to lazy, witless and indecisive to listen to them.

One featuring the Iranian Double pause is invalueless.
