I've finally moved up to Catalina (OS 10.15.?) on my Mac and therefore lost use of the Quicktime Pro 7 player/editor. Any recommendations on replacement software? My main use was to pull audio off of videos to match my English narration to other language videos, and mild editing of video.

Many thanks!

I don't have any personal experience with Mac so I put feelers out to friends of mine who do. The response I received was that iMovie might be your best bet since it's free supports iCloud sync (in the event you're editing on both Mac and iOS devices).

If you're looking for one that comes with a business expense, Camtasia was recommended as well.

Another response I received was "To everyone's despair catalina killed off quicktime 7 - but there is still some editing ability with new quicktime. Hit command+e"

If any more responses come back I'll dump them in here.

well, there's always imovie for editing.

my favorite player, for almost everything is VLC.

also, although WAY overkill, the free version of davinci resolve does almost everything the paid version does ... at least for basic editing, color grading, etc.

I use:
Quicktime for screen recording
Screenflow for more complex screen recording
TwistedWave for stripping audio from video and now for basic video cutting
