How much do you charge for one page of corporate narration like e-learning modules, online tutorials, etc?

0-5 minutes of finished audio = $200
5-15 minutes = $400

Industrial rate—

$200 per page

special rate:

first 4 pages $200
the rest $150.

Wicked special rate for my fave clients who hire me for huge projects:
$150 per page, period.

Tom,

My minimum session fee is $400. That applies to up to one hour of work so a single page, up to about 5 pages are all at the same rate. My fee is $200 per hour for work above that, both recording and editing.

How big is a page? I charge $250 for the first 5 minutes and $100 for each additional 5 minutes.

So the real answer is, apart from satisfying idle curiosity, it doesn't matter because WE don't run YOUR business and utlimately the client will decide the rate by either saying "Fine me old matey" or "HOW MUCH?? GET LOST!" By the way, my minimum session fee is my decision but there are a number of jobs offered to me where the rate is set by other people/organisations so they are presented to me on a take it or leave it basis. Needless to say, within reason, I take 'em.

Any way. Now we've got the rates sorted, tell me guys how much have you earned so far this week? I need to know so I can adjust my work rate upwards to keep it in line with the "market".

How common is this "minimum session fee" thing? Don't get me wrong, I can charge a mint sometimes but every client is different. Am I missing something?

Very common. Stops many a game of Poker. As an example. In the UK my basic studio fee for a TV commercial is $400, but that's not the end of the matter as it's merely the money for being there. The real money is made from the TVRs (in the US, residuals). Based on my fee, should a network TV campaign be seen by people 30 times then my total fee is not my minimum(basic) but $27,000. As the song goes "it's not how you start it's how you finish".

Didn't answer my own question. In US currency as at 27th $3,248.28, did nowt yesterday except shift a few tons of logs - Proper work! Not fair to include TVRs (residuals) because that's not work.

I'm quite target driven because if I didn't set even trivial financial goals I'd be walking on the beach or doing numerous other life enhancing yet financially unbeneficial things. On the 1st November I looked at the numbers for the month ahead and the end of the year. No way am I going to do that by December 31st! As the month progressed I thought, ok there's no way I'm going to do my December 31st target by the End of November. By close of play on Monday I found myself chasing $220. For me the fun part about this job is that, no matter how good at marketing you are you can't make the phone ring, so we succeed or fail by the hour. I'm a failure because I work less often than I don't. That sits well with me because I'm a lazy git too!
