Brian,

"Cant" as a word rather than a contraction has to do with speaking, though not in terribly complimentary terms. Or as a very old term for singing. So, it's not all bad news.

A cant is a log that has been squared off. You don't run a sawmill, do you?

"Cant" can also be defined as a slanting or tilted position. Perhaps someone thinks you're a bit off kilter. Rolls Eyes
