Is what we do a compound word? Voiceover.
Is what we do a hyphenated word? Voice-over.
Or is it just two words? Voice over?
I think I've used all three versions but what is the industry standard?

This has come up a number of times, and the consensus is that... there isn't a consensus. Personally, I describe what I do as voiceover, and refer to myself as a voice actor or voice artist. Although, I have started to use voiceoverist more and more... initially it was somewhat less than serious, but it's actually growing on me (thank you, Mr. Banks) _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Hyphenation is OK, but I tend not to do it in mixed company. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

I spell it as one word: Voiceover
The hyphenation I think is used less and less....the 2 words, sometimes I see it, but I think more & more it's moving towards the one word version. _________________ Liz de Nesnera O.A.V. ~ Livin' The VO Dream!

Jim,
I use the single word version, voiceover, all the time for one specific reason: VOIP. When someone searches on either voice over as 2 words, or the hyphenated version, the results are chock-a-block with both voice performers and VOIP results. I want to be found when someone is searching for what I do. _________________ Be well,

I prefer "voiceover" but on my website I manage to spell it at least once in every way I can think of. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.
