Luckily it had nothing to do with their fruit. Some peanuts tried to make a break for it and ended up in their BBQ almond packets. Silly peanuts.

One of my own personal favorite gifts is the book "English: the Mother Tongue and How It Got to Be That Way" by Bill Bryson. I figure most creatives are fans of language, right? Well this book is not only utterly fascinating, but it is also laugh out loud hilarious.
If you are Facebook pals with them, that can be a great way of finding out what their loves are. I discovered through Facebook that a great client of mine is an oenophile, and actually has a Napa Valley podcast series. So I sent him an assortment of very nice wines from an Oregon winery that I think highly of. It was a big hit.
Also through Facebook, I discovered that a long-time client of mine was - like me - a rabid Detroit Tigers fan. I sent him a DVD of "The Hank Greenberg Story." ...then he invited me into his fantasy baseball league, which I am loving.... and he calls me in more often and I get more work. Win-win!

Actually, you can go wrong with single malt scotch. Believe it or not, some people in the business do not drink. In some cases, not even coffee. Scotch or champagne or gourmet coffee may very well be fine offerings, but it's probably not a bad idea to ascertain your recipient's beverage of choice before gifting.

Bingo.
I DO drink, but not Scotch. If someone gave me a bottle of the finest Scotch made, I'd give it away. Now a good bottle of Malbec, however..........
