I find this to sad for a number of reasons...
My first memory of news is as a child watching CBS cartoons and the top of the hour child news summary "In The News" which he anchored most of the time. It was a professional yet properly guarded presentation of a topical news story for the young audience. I remember even then what a great voice he had,,,
Secondly, for years until his retirement this year, his CBS World News Roundup at 8:00 a.m. ET...great anchor, great reporters.
Sorry that he retired and even sorrier he didn't have more time to enjoy the fruits of his labor here on earth.
God's speed pal. _________________ - Peter

I never thought about it but he was such a regular presence over the years of my radio listening, and like us he was really a storyteller and a damn good one at that...I'm sad to think that I took him for granted all these years. |

Wow, that's sad news. He was as much a part of my childhood as Lucky Charms...

My first big network voiceover was a billboard for In The News. A jingle, it was for Kellogg's, and it ran on CBS from about 1975 to 1978. Christopher Glenn had a wonderful voice, perfect for adults and children alike.

I have admired his work for many, many years and have always thought him to be one of the most appealing voices of our time. |

Plus, Mr. Glenn gave good advice:
"Get a job, want to do it real bad, do it real good, and stick with it. Practice, practice, practice — same old story," |

I remember waiting for his "In The News" spots to air every Saturday morning. I loved listening to his voice and his style. Truly unique.
It's in some ways sad to see some of Televisions golden age celebs pass on. It means so many of us have some Very Big Shoes to fill. With all the amazing talent on this board I have no doubt we someday will.

I have the same fond memories, and am better for them!
I don't understand this part of the story. It says he retired earlier this year, yet hung up his phones (head-, micro-) last week. ???
Quote: | (CBS News) Veteran CBS News correspondent Christopher Glenn, who retired earlier this year, has died, CBS News reports. He was 68.
Glenn died suddenly in a hospital in Norwalk, Conn.
After a 35 years as an integral part of CBS News, correspondent Christopher Glenn shut off his microphone Thursday. |

A metaphor for death - at least that's how I took it. |

Actor: Has gone to the big casting call
Bakers: Punched in the dough
Butcher: Took her thumb off the scale
Bankers: Turned in the big CD
Postal carrier: Her stamp was cancelled
Judge: Maxwell's hammer came down on him; went to the court of no appeal
Chef: You can stick a fork in him
Geek: His hard drive froze
Voice talent: Went to the big FTP site; uploaded her final audition
