I am considering getting assistance from the Small Business Administration to buy a booth. They are asking me to select, from their list of categories, which most accurately describes the type of business. For voice-over, these two are the closest I could find, but I can select only one. Which one?

- Arts, Entertainment & Recreation, or
- Professional & Business Services

For ages I've been telling the tax folks that I'm "Creative Services" and they haven't disagreed. So long as you honestly list your income and honestly list your deductions (and you're not in a really weird career like Arctic crab fisherman or circus monkey trainer) they don't give a fig what you call your profession.

If there's ever a hard question that's where your accountant's fees become truly worthwhile.

When I have to pick from one of those rolling lists, "Creative Services" does not usually show up... so I look for Advertising if I can, or sometimes Entertainment because I do games.

HOWEVER!
Professional Services fits the bill. That's what we are. Professionals, offering services.

Good luck with the SBA! I have developed a very nice relationship with them and my bankers because of recent global catastrophic events.
