An apparent arc in a circuit breaker panel caused a fire that destroyed three of the four condos in one building here, in my village, last November. Thankfully, no one was injured. As a result of the fire, though, all circuit breaker panels are being replaced.

My panel replacement is scheduled for this coming Tuesday, and estimated downtime (without electricity) is between six and eight hours. This is not good for me. I don't know what I'm going to do during that time, because the circuit breaker panel is located inside my condo, and I'm not particularly comfortable going out and leaving the electricians here alone. Gasp

Any ideas? Thanks.
(edited to add that the electricians will be working inside my condo)

That's a bummer!
But if you don't treasure the thought of that much time counting bricks in the chimney or something, you could park near a Starbucks and mooch off their wi-fi so that at least you could keep up with emails and things.

take it as a win - go outside - take a drive, a walk, a guided tour of the scenic wonders of (insert area of interest here) - tell your clients that due to circumstances beyond your control you will be unreachable for the entire day.

if they have work that absolutely has to be done right now - send them to me. i'll do it ... and send you the check.

If you’re desperate rent an electric generator and a long long extension cord for that day.

I’ve never lost a customer when I gave them advanced warning on revising their timeline. And if someone wants to book you between now and then, hey, that time is “booked” but let me see when else I can record.

Thanks, guys. I did fail to mention that the circuit breaker panel being replaced is inside my condo, so I'm not particularly comfortable going out and leaving the electricians here alone... with all my gear (and everything else) easily seen.

As for clients, I've already told them I'd be unavailable that day.

sit on the sofa and stare vacantly at the electricians for the entire time.

they love that.

Read a book or manual?
Put away files that aren't sorted?
Clear out your clothes closet?
Do a jigsaw puzzle?

I mean all of these suggestions honestly and with respect because I think you are terrific.

ooohhh!!!!! (seriously - think this would be fun)

shoot a mini-documentary on your phone of electricians replacing a circuit panel. loosely narrate it as you go.
