Hey, my first cousin from Central Mexico is coming to the States for Christmas with his fiance and wants to go to Disneyland for a day. Anyone know how I can get a couple (maybe 3) VIP passes to help them get to the front of the lines? Want to pay, of course, but since they only have one day (two days before Christmas - probably will be busy there), I'd like them to be able to actually get on some rides!

Connie... Does this info answer any questions you have about "how to get" the passes?

Wow - thanks a bunch! You are so darn helpful...that explains it very well and it is very clever.

I hope my cousin's English is good enough to help them figure it out! At least you don't have to pay more.

Fastpass is very cool and works well. We just head to the biggest attractions and get a scheduled time and then come back at that time.

We used Fastpasses at Disney World - most excellent time saving system. It does make one feel like a VIP when you get to walk through the Fast Past lane past those waiting and waiting and waiting in the plain old regular line.

Fastpass will work for the individual, but it's really a bad thing.

Disney rides are designed to have people wait in line. So with the FastPass, if people are not waiting in line at Space Mountain, where are they?

In the restaurants, In the shops, In lines for other rides. Walking around. In other words, they are clogging up the rest of the park when they could/should be waiting in nicely organized queue lines.

Thankfully, FastPass is going the way of the dodo. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Why would Disneyland or Disney World have issue with people either shopping in their shops....buying food at restaurants or just plain standing in line for another ride? As a business person, I would welcome the shopping and eating thing with open arms.

Yes, indeed. There's a reason there's a "Last Chance" giftshop right inside the gates of each of the parks... you can never have too many mouse ears!

I never said Disney had issue with it. I'm saying longtime patrons of the park do. Disneyland has had a very good year with park attendance being very high. Moving people out of lines and into other places doesn't help with congestion.

This isn't rocket surgery, folks. If I've got a Fastpass for Space
Mountain and instead of waiting in that line, I'm now in the line for Indiana Jones, the fastPass system has just increased that line by another person. Multiply that by the number of people who use the FastPass system and you can probably see the larger consequences of your individual convenience.

Full disclosure: I go to DL at least once a year and use the FastPass system for some things. So yes, I'm as "guilty" of it as anyone else.

All that aside, Connie, I hope you and your guests have a blast!

Someone is bitter about their amusement park experiences.

I'll pretend I didn't see this.
