OK, so we have covered the use of product names in the commercial demo. Let's shift our focus to the narration demo. Should the length remain at about 1 minute or go longer? Should I have lots of small "bits", or about 4-15sec ones? And last but not least do y'all think it's okay to have some childrens book, or any other audio book narration even if this is not strictly an audio book demo.???

"Choose a five minute selection (2-3 pages) from a modern novel in which you feel well cast as the "voice" of the book. Include a bit of dialogue. If you would like, choose a five minute piece from a history or non-fiction as well. Don't choose a children's book, a classic, or poetry. There is no need to send a copy of your Voice over tape. "

This is from the Recorded Books, Inc website.

My narration demo is a minute and a half. It has narration for a story on film, a medical read, a documentary read, a software tutorial, and a bit of conversation from an indutrial training program.

The narration stuff is going to be somewhat longer, but I wouldn't go longer than 2 minutes, and all the elements should sound different.

I have two types of demos, one short form which is a montage with my commercial pieces and then upon request a longer all narration piece.

Target your demos according to your various prospective audiences.[/img]
