I remember writing rather frantically with Connie Terwilliger 4 years ago about the sudden disappearance of the Voiceover Cyberstation .

It had been the de facto go-to VO board from the late 90's to November of 2004, when it suddenly vanished from the intarwebz.

Panic ensued among the denizens. Because I knew a thing or two about phpBB message boards, I thought I'd throw one together to tide us over the few days we'd need to wait until Sam Torres got the Cyberstation up again. Time was of the essence, since I didn't want everyone to drift into the Land of Yahoo or Google, so I thought of the easiest name I could— VO dash BB: the Voice Over Bulletin Board.

(VOBB.com was owned by some Turkish bunch at the time (who may well be the dopes who hacked us), it now belongs to Verot Oaks Building Blocks, makers of mortarless concrete block building materials.)

A few of the folks from the Cyberstation signed on. Frank Frederick showed up right away, Bill Ballenberg, Rowell Gorman, Maiku Rhys.
Mike Cain, Edo, Bill Elder.

MCM was an early adopter! How Banksey found us I shall never know.

The "tiding over" has turned to the tidings of a few anniversaries now.
Great w00ty w00tness!

Life is grand.

Ain't it though? Thanks DB. I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for this asylum and all the blessed and wonderful inmates who reside therein.

To me Lovely Lady D.B. explained what she was about to do, I simply supported her, knowing that "we" needed a place which would offer some sanity in our otherwise harried lives.

It has been a blessing and a pleasure to be a very small part in this growing community and family.

Happy Anniversary VO-BB, and special condolences are given to the fair D.B. Cooper. She is still running our asylum with great wit, style, and class.

Toodles

I don't even want to think about where I might [not] be without this place. The friendships and connections I've made here are beyond my ability to calculate. Thank-you Deirdre, and all the denizens hereof!

Happy New Year!!

All hail our board mistress!

A few years ago, I was a member of one of the yahoo audio groups (not the Voiceovers one at that time) and the moderator sent an invitation to check out this board. So glad I did!

Is there cake at this party? I must've missed it.

I found you from the Backstage message board and Anthony. He posted something about VO on there, I pm'd him and soon I had found this place. I was in a one-act play festival at the time and lots of time backstage waiting for my 2 plays to go on. I spent hours reading archives and all the posts and then waited almost 6 monnths to post something. I was in awe of the experience and professionalism and didn't want to make a total idiot out of myself talking about what I didn't know. These people had forgotten more than I even knew existed-how dare I post?! That was over 2 years ago. Serendipity is amazing.

Let's raise a glass to 4 more years!

Wowzers. Happy Anniversary Mom and everyone!

You yerself told me about this place Deebs at the Pat Fraley workshop in Boston.

Thank you Ms. Cooper for being our Twisted Mom, Board Czar and Ringmaster.

I can honestly say that many of the people on this Earth I hold dearest to my heart were first silly avatars and words on a screen from this joint. Not only does my professional career owe the VO=BB a dept of gratitude, my sanity owes it one as well.

Here's to many many more years of the most wonderful corner of the web!!

edited once cause I dropped a J. That doesn't sound any better Diane!

I found the VO-BB while perusing through the AOVA website. Jim & Penny had recommended the website. I've been a fan of the VO-BB ever since. Even though I had been through the AOVA 8-week training program, more than half of what I know about VO has come from the VO-BB.

The people on the board appear to be very dedicated to their craft, always willing to share ideas, but sometimes they express unusual pleasures in chocolate... beer... Llamas... cake... kittens... watercress... and some guy named Dave. Only one person was officially sent to hell... but was soon returned Postage Due.
