ABC just reported Paul Harvey has passed away at the age of 90.

One day in the 80's he made his way to New Orleans while I was at WNOE. I got up and met him at 3:30 am at the Hilton, drove him to the station and produced his morning and noon news casts that day. In between the broadcasts, we walked down to K-Pauls, and Chef Paul Prudomme made us all a huge Cajun breakfast. I'll see if I can find the picture.

I remember him warming up in front of the mic with "Good Ladies Evening and Gentlemen of The Audio Radiance...May Mee My Mo Mooo"

Good Day, Paul. We'll miss you.

Paul Harvey had the quality every broadcaster -- and VO -- wants to have.
When he spoke you just had to listen.
Didn't matter what he was talking about.
I cannot give a higher compliment.

Godspeed, Paul. I loved The Rest of the Story. It really was impossible to turn off.

What an amazing man. I agree, Deirdre. I couldn't turn off "The Rest of the Story" either.

I spent several of my years in radio making sure Paul Harvey was on the air everyday. Paul - you will be missed.

I spent 6 years working for ABC Radio Networks. While I worked at the Dallas station and never met Paul Harvey- I was always so proud to say we worked at the same 'place'...even though it was a stretch. What a great talent.

Many moons ago I was doing the morning show on KBBC-FM here in Phoenix and on the air every day at 5 a.m., but when Paul Harvey was visiting and doing his newscasts across the hall at KTAR, you better believe I was down there at 3:30 am to meet him and watch him work. You could see that he had a love affair with the microphone (and in reality the listener) just in how he did the famous opening and closing lines. What a memory. What a master of his craft.

I used to admire his talent, but not always his words in the early days, but when he started speaking more from his heart and came out against the war back in Nixon's day, my respect was solidified.

I also served as the local " Paul Harvey engineer" at WOKK-FM in Meridian Mississippi....a fellow broadcaster I know in Lexington named Tom Martin was the fill-in guy for Paul Harvey in the 80's and early 90's....I saw Paul Harvey as the keynote speaker at the NAB Convention in Washington in 1988, I'll never forget it...he was great in person as well as in front of the mic....

I never had the privilege of meeting the man. But I do have a lot of history with him. I started hearing Paul Harvey back in 1977 when I was working construction. A couple years later I learned how to do his voice and a couple years after that is when I made my radio debut (1980). I adopted his style to read the news. I was doing the midnight to six show and the news was stuff I gathered from a news service that were odd and different stories. Those were the days. Paul Harvey will be missed.

I grew up listening to Paul Harvey. The man was a storyteller before anyone figured out how important it was. We have lost another giant.

I saw the news come across last night. Such an icon of American broadcasting. Often imitated......much loved.

We must have all engineered a Harvey broadcast at some point.

Good day Paul.
