Our house will be jammed full of hungry, loud, and crazy family members.
I'm looking forward to my grandkids (ages 5, 4, 1 1/2) to come and bless all of us. We need some cheering up...we lost a family this week to cancer.
We really do have much to be thankful for...the best to you and yours.
PS Lobster here in Maine is dirt cheap--about 2 to 3 bucks a pound. There's a big push to help the fisherman out by serving the crustacean for Thanksgiving in addition to Turkey. I pray my relatives from the coastal area bring plenty...I'll provide the butter. |

Funny you should mention the lobster... you know, for the past seven years, up until this year, my husband and I either made lobster for Thanksgiving, or we went out to eat.
The reason being, I loathed the time from November through December (holidays and my birthday) so I wanted them to be just like any other day. Without getting into a huge sob story, my husband and I rarely see our families. For example, I've not seen two of my brothers in 10 years.
That being said, I'm really in the holiday spirit this year. I don't know exactly why, but I do think that being around you guys (ok, it's virtual, but still...) has really helped.
I'm very thankful for each and every one of you!!!

First Colonial Bread is out of the bread machine...2nd will go in shortly (The house smells wonderful!)
Making the Garlic mashed taters in the am.
Then an hour drive over to MIL's for the bird...actually this is the first year that one of Bri's sisters is actually cooking the bird....then we're all converging on my MIL's house.
It'll be nice.
Happt Thanksgiving to all!

Caryn,
Honestly, there was a time when we had lobster so much it got a bit tiring--it helps to have fisherman friends. It's been a month since I've cracked a shell, so I'm due.
I'm glad you're getting in the holiday spirit this year. When my teenage son passed away in Oct. 96', it took until 2005 before the holiday season felt right again. I was reminded yesterday the importance of family. I work for a radio group in Brewer, Maine, and I mixed down some military greetings from service men, women, and their families (kids, too) wishing their families the best this holiday season. You could hear the restrained saddness and uncertainty in their voices...I'm glad I was alone in the studio...I teared up.
Many blessings to you and yours. |

I was up late last night brining a bird and imbibing with my BIL. Now I'm on the 5-7 and off for the afternoon feast. Hope everyone has the chance to sit down, eat and enjoy fellowship with friends & family today! |

*Yawn*
Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving all!
Why am I up so early? I am in today's Thanksgiving Day parade in uptown Charlotte. The Charlotte Scooter Cult is going to show it's muscle and ride together as part of the autocade. (scootercade?)
Later today it's off to the mother in law's house for the traditional bird and some awesome desserts. I do miss Grandma's Cranberry Frappe though. _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

A "Fall Down" Dinner for three at my sister's house. We're really "into" the preparations. I get the Honeybaked Spiral Turkey and my brother in law gets the dressing and vegetables at a cafeteria.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. For those not in the USA, Happy Thursday! |

Jen, Alex and I are off to my mom and dad's house for Turkey Day. Mom always puts out a HUGE spread on the holidays. I'm not going to eat breakfast today. . .okay, maybe some toast (I am hungry after all). _________________ Christopher G. French
