Anyone using the Dell Mini 9 netbook with Windows XP? Source-Connect, Audio TX? Soundgun discussed this a few months back, in theory based on the EEEPC, but hadn't tried the Dell ---I read that the Acer version is a bit noisy, not good for VO types, any word on the Dell? As you can guess, I like Dell Smile

I just picked up the Mini9 with XP along with the Asus 1000. I returned my earlier Asus 901 because it was giving me trouble. Audio glitches in Sound Forge and the touchpad was so sensitive as I typed I would brush against it and the next thing I knew my cursor was in Alaska.

The Asus 1000 has a regular HD as opposed to solid state and you can hear it. The Mini9 is silent. I haven't loaded SF into it yet. I'll keep you posted when I install everything and play with it.

I have a client who is trying to do just what you mentioned with Source Connect and a Mini 9 with a CEntrance MicPort Pro. I will check in with him and see how it's going. With AudioTX you will have no problem, as it requires far less CPU power.
I don't have hands-one experience with the Mini 9, but I do use the Asus EEE PC models with the same processor, the Intel Atom 1.6 Ghz.
It's a struggle with them to work consistently with Source Connect because they barely have adequate CPU power. There are some tricks to improve the performance, however. I like the SSD drive models because they have no moving parts to damage, but fan noise is the biggest issue you'll deal with since the CPU is maxed out most of the time.
This is the key thing that is holding me back from mass promoting my ultra portable DLF VO2GO kit. I am sure the next generation of the Atom chip will give us the bump in performance we need to have an adequately powered Netbook.
