Big problem occurred, today. Had a phone patch session scheduled and my PT decides to freak out. When ever I load an Aux Input track onto my Digi 002 session to connect my phone hybrid...there's no audio...meaning I can't hear the client or myself through my headphones or monitors. But, when I change the Aux track into an Audio track; I can hear everything, until I change the interface of Mic 1 to output through Mic 3.

Here's how it's all connected:

pre - Mic 1
Phone Patch - Mic 2
Mic 1 interfaced output through Mic 3 - Phone Hybrid
Monitors should playback through Channels 1 & 2.

I have used this same layout for three years and never had a problem, until today. I have tried searching the Digi Support Forums, but haven't been able to locate an answer. (That doesn't mean there isn't one there. It might mean I suck at searching the database. Smile )

Does anybody have any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks,

Dan

p.s. My thanks to Kevin Genus for sitting on the phone with me for quite some time trying to figure this out. Also, the session did proceed with a simple work around: Cell phone with an earpiece.

Maybe this is obvious, but did you check the volume fader for the Aux track? Sometimes they get turned down unwittingly. Either open the Mixer panel, or click the Fader icon on the Aux track to open its fader and make sure it's up.
I've seen this happen before, amazing how it can stymie the user if you aren't accustomed to using that feature.

Have you tried to avoid using aux inputs and simply do the routing through a bus to another channel for headphone mix purposes? Also if you use an aux input, be sure to check whether the send fader (on your insert) is open and things are properly patched as in pre or post fade.

Good luck!

Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed As embarrassing as this is to admit, George nailed it on the head. My mixer pot was down. I wasn't even looking at it. And why should I, since Pro Tools would always remember my preference? Oh yeah! I had to re-install Pro Tools the day before and the software went back to default settings!

Kevin did ask me if it was up and I answered "yes" because I could see the meters bouncing...two very different things, kids.

Let this be a lesson...always check the simple things first!

Thank you, George and Edo!

Also, your preferences get wiped out every time you trash the databases and prefs files in an effort to get Pro Tools to run properly. Ahhhh, Pro Tools...
