|
|
Hello everyone!
I am a newbie here, My name is Mia Alon and I am a 21 year old voice artist from Israel.
Worked on many many animations back there and movies too.
I have been in LA for almost two years now trying to learn the nuts and bolts of this wonderful profession, and have recently finished a voice acting 101 class.
I have recorded a new animation demo and currently also working on a commercial demo, would appriciete if you could give it a listen and some critique- good or bad. I'm here to learn.
You can listen to it right here:

Get rid of the slate as it's like being hit in the face apart from that, wonderful stuff!
If anyone advises you to get more coaching take their advice only if you have money to waste because you don't need it. |

You've definitally got the upper register teen/child thing going on. Totally nailed that one. But according to your profile, you can also do deep and sassy. You also list senior as part of your repertoire. I'd love to hear some of that on your reel. _________________ Jeff

Thanks!
Yeah, I didn't want the slate, it was someone else idea, I think I'll get rid of that and the swallowing noise in the end of the demo when the little guy says "nothing..." it sounds like something that needed to be cleaned out....
haha i'm broke right now so no more training for me, I just took one class to get a clear idea on what to do... Now I'm just gonna record the commercial demo and look for an agent... That part is the hard one.
Oh and about the other voices I can do, sassy is gonna be on my commercial reel, as well as some other stuff... the commercial is gonna be mre about my natural characters. the cartoon one is more about crazy sounding kids... which is what I did a lot of before coming here. |

Wow! Excellent stuff. You should get a demo of you in commercials playing young boy and girl characters - you could do both. That would be "money".
It's not easy finding believable kids for commercial audio work.

Mia,
I'll join the chorus. This is very good stuff. Lose the slate and maybe stop one phrase sooner (right before swallow and "nothing") and you're golden. _________________ Be well,

Hiya, Mia. I really like it. I agree with dropping the front and back but it sounds great. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

Thanks guys for all the awesome replies!
Haha, you guys hit my ego right in the spot I feel so freakin' confident now!
Can't let it get to my head though, still have tons of work to do!
Bill Campbell, I just might take your advise on the commercial thing and make a male and female kid dialogue, I like that...
I'm having some trouble with finding good lines for a commercial demo, I'm an animation pro, but when it comes to commercials, it's all new to me.
I took in what you all said and slashed off the slate.
It was kinda hard getting rid of the last line and the swallow since he starts talking right before the girl finished....
But I faded it out... Tell me if it sounds better now please

I might go in and record my commercial demo tomorrow, I'll upload it for sure you guys are so nice and helpful to a kiddy like me |

I'm in agreement with most here. Very impressive demo! With a bit more range added from your lower register, it should open some serious doors for you. _________________ Great Voice. Great Choice. For Voice Talking and stuff.
