|
|
Hi there,
I've already contacted several prospective clients, like production companies and talent agencies. Now, I'm working on the local advertising agencies in my area. When I make my cold calls to the agencies, who is it that I need to talk to to ask about VO opportunities--the creative director, account executive, etc.?
Also, is it appropriate to talk to these people directly, or do I just ask whoever answers the phone who I should mail my demo to?
Thanks for your advice! |

where exactly are you that it's ok to call talent agents?
alot of your marketing will have to do with your market.

I'm actually in Honolulu. There are a very few talent agencies here that actually represent voice over talent. But I called one and they were very helpful and directed me to the appropriate person to send my demo to. I was pleasantly surprised myself! |

good to know. since i don't know your market, then all I can tell you is that your first step with ad agencies is to find out which ones have in-house production/recording studios/casting. marketing your talent to an ad agency that doesn't deal with or doesn't want to deal with casting/production is a waste of time.

The creative director is the person who makes casting decisions in small ad agencies, and he/she is the person in a large firm who oversees all of the writers, producers and assitant creative directors who make casting decisions. They're a good place to start. However don't expect a lot of contact or return phone calls your first time around. As creative people they are sometimes amazingly slow at opening their minds to new creative voices.
