It's our custom to take all the cash in the house and put it in one container on New Year's Eve, and, close to midnight, take it outside. Once the clock strikes 12, and everyone says "Happy New Year!" we bring the money in— and as the first thing over the threshold in the new year it "sets the stage" for an ongoing influx of wealth.
That's the idea! So far so good. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Hmm...at midnight the fireworks went off and the neighbors started blowing their horns. My dog walked across the threshold and pooped.
Wonder what that says about our 2009??
I think I like your start better Deirdre!! _________________ Threadjackers local 420

That was a brilliant idea DB! I'll try a version of it now.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!
Lots of love and wishes for a happy, prosperous 2009 for each and every one of us!

While I love Deebs tradition...it was Kara's post that got the room laughing this morning!
My New Year started nicely enough with a well attended party at a nice old hotel in Old Saybrook CT. The one problem came at about 2am while we were loading out in single digit temps ....van's starter was frozen solid. We ended up schleping the gear across the parking lot in the cold and the wind. Drummers GF drove the 30 minutes out to pick us up. Finally hit the sack at 4:30. Ah well..... _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

I might have tried that -- if only I had any cash. Do you think a stack of silver coins from Big Y would have worked? _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

We put coins in a container and also put them outside our door, and took back in a couple minutes after midnight.
DB do you or anyone know where this tradition originated? I first heard it from an Asian friend. |

Make it so, Number One!
This is the kind of thing we'll have no more of with a new BB architecture. _________________ DBCooperVO.com
