...please hire Morgan Freeman to do it, and not this guy:

This trailer didn't even need a VO, which makes the voice even more obtrusive and out of place...even if it wasn't such an obvious attempt at emulating Morgan Freeman's signature style. _________________ Publisher: Voice Actors in the News

Okay - what am I missing here?
Morgan Freeman or not, I found this trailer to be very well done and right on the money! |

The trailer is well done, but the images and music alone carry it. The VO seems obtrusive and unnecessary, and the Morgan Freeman-esque narration style is distracting.
But I do realize that's just my opinion. _________________ Publisher: Voice Actors in the News

Completely agree. The VO was too much and the totally wrong voice for this spot.
Of course, all can be forgiven since Zooey Deschanel was in it. _________________ Jeff

I originally viewed this trailer on FilmSchoolRejects. Click that link and scroll down for the comments and note one made by "Craig".
I found this link through a Google search on Don LaFontaine and was baffled that someone could have even mistaken the voice on that trailer for Don's. _________________ Publisher: Voice Actors in the News

Yeah...I deleted my post because although I do think a female VO would have worked better, I don't like to dis another professional VO who obviously gave the director what they wanted.
This discussion of not using female VO's when this is obviously geared towards a female audience just doesn't make sense to me. (This discussion even came up with Don @ Voice 2007 during his Q & A..even HE didn't get it!) Why not use Melissa Disney?
But again, the VO they used obviously gave the producers what they thought they wanted, so...ok....I guess the search is on for Don's heir.

It needs some VO but it had way too much script and the wrong voice in my opin. A younger voice for sure, and since it's likely to be a chick flick or at least a date flick, a woman's voice would have been a wise choice.
Hey, and the Third Rock alien kid gets to work again.

Speaking of Morgan Freeman, I just read that he paid for an integrated prom in his hometown in Mississippi, that happened in 2008! He made the offer in 1999. A Sundance doc on the topic just premiered last week ('tis the season). Up until last spring, there was a prom for whites and a prom for blacks. {{{{Shudder}}}} _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

That doesn't surprise me that he would do that, Diane.
He is an AMAZING man.
Bit of Mr. Freeman trivia (That's what I alwyas called him):
I grew up in the same building he lived in, in NYC.
I met him for the first time when I was about 5 when he was "Easy Reader" on the Electric Company. He was the nicest most soft spoken man, and it always surprised me that he won his first Oscar nomination for "Street Smart" where he played a murderous Pimp which was SO opposite of his gentle personality.
When he got that nomination, the building threw an Oscar party for him....this was when I was just out of college.... and he moved to Hollywood after that to become the huge star that he is today.
I have seen just about every movie he has ever been in and am SO happy for his success because he truly deserves it.

He's actually a very prolific actor. He does at least 2 or 3 movies a year. He's playing Cobra Commander in the new GI Joe movie. _________________ Jeff

I always loved this part of Electric Company, called Soft Shoe Silhouettes. Who knew it'd come in handy for VO??!!
