As if this is anything new! Wink

I spoke with family in France today (talk about passionate about politics! Rolls Eyes ) and they were thrilled FOR us. Apparently 85% of the French would have voted for Obama...anyway...it was great to speak to them and hear the hope in their voices as well.

May he lead us well.

There are plenty of jolly folk over here in England as well. From what I saw and read, it was a lovely inaugaration day.

From someone who has seen those drinking fountains of bygone days marked, 'white' and 'colored' -- I say, 'hooray for today'!

Now it's down to business for President Obama.
cheers gang!

I think most of us of a certain age remember those fountains; what drove it close to home for me was the memory of a grandmother who was as racist as a person could be and still be pleasant about it. She was brought up to speak well to everyone to their face, but once they were out the door... well, it was the old saying "If you don't have anything nice to say, come sit by me." I sat there on the sofa watching all the activities yesterday wondering what she would have said about all this. I remember well her rants against "those people" and when she died, we found out she was half Native American... go figure.

The amazing thing about the election last year was what I found out about many of my relatives who I THOUGHT were pretty conservative and would go for Huckabay or McCain. Except for one who was divided between D and R, most of them said that they were going to vote for Hillary (if she got it); and then switched to Obama when he got the nomination. If nothing else, last year's election and nomination process got people thinking again...

Bobbin,

Thanks for the great laugh! Actually 40 hours is my personal record for being awake, working, without rest. I don't think 140 is possible, at least it's not for me.
