VO-BB - 20 YEARS OLD!

Many of you read on my blog about my Audiobook Adventures recording "Ten Mile River" for Audible.com last year.

Well I was checking the site and waiting and checking and waiting and checking some more, to see if it had been published to the site for what seems like forever. Finally I had kinda given up thinking maybe they'd decided I sucked after all, then . . .

A few days ago I check again and lo and behold, there it is!

"Ten Mile River"

I am quite proud of this first effort and should my future hold more audiobook narrations, I hope they will get progressively better and better.

There is a SAMPLE link right under the cover art on the site, but I should warn you that there is some strong language in the form of the N-BOMB in the sample so if that kind of language offends you, please don't click on it.

Sounded pretty cool. Tell us about recording it. How long did it take to do? What was the total length of the book, pages and timed out spoken word. Was the publisher real picky about takes? On average how many takes on a paragraph? Did they want a few takes for choice on a paragraph or section?

The print version has 14 five star reviews on Amazon and nothing else, so it looks like you got a great first book to read. Sounds good too!

Thank you all so much for the kind words of encouragement.

Eddie - It took 10 hours across 2 days to read the 4 hour audiobook.

I pretty much read the book straight through and we only stopped if I didn't like the take, or the engineer / director had a comment i.e. I needed to differentiate more between two characters or I used the wrong voice for a character that had been established previously, and we re-did a take anytime I mis-read or mispronounced or omitted words and such. Other than that, they just let me do my thing.

Then the editors review it and they call you in to do pick-ups. In fact, I am going in this afternoon to do some pick-ups on my second audiobook with them entitled "Crazy Loco".

Now that Audible has made a deal with AFTRA, I am wondering if they will continue to use me or not.

We'll see.
