International clients do mean getting up pretty early for live sessions - but this one had a fun ending.

I've been voicing radio spots for a nightclub in Amsterdam called "Escape". Nice/Upscale and fashionable kind of place.

This morning, I also added their live/FM radio mixshow to the account.

Saturday nights I'll now be the imaging voice for "Decibel FM" (pronounced DAY-see-bell there).

Funny part was the producer and club owner were amused to hear me "sounding Dutch".

This job just rocks sometimes.

Chuck, Congrats. I'd like to hear you sounding Dutch as well. Any chance of us hearing a snippet?

Nice job Chuck, I already heard the finished product! I actually did part of the opening remote broadcast from the Escape Club when Radio Decibel hit the air in November of 2007. That was about a month after I decided to move to Curaçao for a longer period of time, but I couldn't NOT fly back to Holland for the occasion. It was soon decided to do the weekly Ministry of Beats show (hosted by Edwin Diergaarde) from the Escape Club on the Rembrandt square in the heart of the capitol, but then it was still recorded and broadcast on a later date. Now there's a permanent link from the Escape Club to the new radio studios in the Northern areas of Amsterdam.

I was involved in the original Radio Decibel back in the eighties when it was still a pirate radiostation. Some of the original guys relaunched the station when another regional commercial station went belly up and the frequencies were up for grabs. Recently they expanded to the western three provinces of Holland, now reaching the four big cities of Holland, Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht. A smaller edition of Decibel Radio targets the southern city of Eindhoven. I wonder who suggested taking a look at some of the fine talent @ VO-BB... Find their websites (in Dutch) at http://www.decibel.fm and http://randstad.decibel.nl. There's some live streams available, so you can also hear what the shows sound like using your voice.

You may or may not know this, but one of the key deejays made it to US radio and television back in the late eighties, when he co-hosted Z100's Morning Zoo in NYC and did regular shows on MTV. His name is Adam Curry. He also voiced some liners for the relaunch of Decibel in Amsterdam.

Recently I flew to Holland to produce a brand new theme jingle package based on the original Decibel custom package we did in 2007. It can now also be heard at Dolfijn FM (Dolphin FM) here on Curaçao where I am now part of besides my VO-jobs (in the sun).

Congrats!

Wow Edo. That is cool! Thanks for all the backstory. I'll have to listen to the webstream. I'm assuming you must know Ron S from Puur Audio.

I 've had a a great time working with him and Tom from the club on the sessions.

One thing we're still having trouble with though is ISDN. He just can't get his box to frame with my Zephyr. We end up doing phone patch mostly. This last time I listened to them on the telco..and they listened to my VO via Skype for the added quality. It worked....but ISDN would have been a whole lot nicer. Any ideas?

Yes Chuck, I know Ron (old radio collegues) Wink

Can't help you on the ISDN problems... sounds like a problem on their end. What you could consider is suggesting they rent a codec from my long time friend Eric Holzhauer @ Showbizz NL (Ron also knows him very well) but... until the end of this week he's over here visiting my island. He's going to be back in Holland on Friday suffering from a severe jetlag Wink

Eric has a warehouse full of broadcast stuff, mobile radiostudio's, PA systems, processing gear and whatever else you can think of when doing remotes or sound and light for performers. He owns a couple of Telos Zephyr codecs, so that wouldn't be a problem.

Good luck. Wait for an edit to this post, I just received word of a video from the relaunch. They promised to send it to me. I'll try to put it online as soon as I get the video.

Thanks Bobbin.

Edo, I'll get with Ron and tell him that I spoke to you about the ISDN issues.

Thanks for the help! Can't wait to see the vids!
