Been working on a fairly long project for a railroad company. As the client tweaks the copy, I've been getting short drops to record. This morning the producer sent this along with the re-writes:

"On a lighter note, the client has liked your voice very much and couldn't
believe that it was a human voice. He insisted that it has to
be computer generated because no human voice can be this perfect. He has
asked me to use your voice for all the future projects.

Kind Regards"

Cool..future work. But computer generated? Can that be a good thing?

btw...that computer generated voice thingy that Jeff posted is a hoot when you get her to say, "Holy shit, Batman!" Obviously, she can't hold a candle to me. cool

Advise all clients that a 20% surcharge will be added for all "computer generated" work, due to equipment and program expenses.

Drew,

I'd take it as a compliment. If the Paramount people contact you for the next Bruce Willis "space movie" robot voice, then I'd take that job and the money too! <g> If the checks don't bounce, then all is well!

Congrats!

Wow Drew! That is a compliment indeed. I don't think he meant that you sound like a computer voice I think what he meant was that he thinks your voice is so perfect sounding that a computer must have generated it because humans can't be capable of speaking/sounding so perfectly. I would say that is a compliment of the highest order......Congrats!

I agree with Bailey.
If they recognize the perfection , the price goes up.

A "Foolish Consistency" may be the hogoblin of little minds, but-- for VO--an Aural Consistency the key to success.

I'm taking it as a compliment. But having owned many computers, 'perfection' should never be included in the same sentence as one. Laugh The producer is a new client who came by way of another VO who had to pass on the job for a prior obligation. Note to self: Don't pass on gigs. Make the time.

It rather makes up for a commercial job this week where I got the old ..."stuff this 40 seconds of crap into this here 30 second bag." I stuffed it...but then the client's like, "Where's the feeling?" "On the floor with the breaths, pauses, and other nuances as a result of cutting and 'time machining', dood." My agent got involved this morning calling me to say, "You're done with this one. If the client won't trim ten, we're billing and calling it over and he'll have to live with the 39 sec read(s) you gave him."

Now, if he does trim ten...we're billing twice... Bitchin
