Mr David Houston suggested that I introduce myself so I will do so formally in this thread:
My name is Kyle Fotheringham. I'm 30 years old and have wanted to do voice acting since I was little. I just got married 2 and 1/2 years ago - no children yet. My wife's name is Shalaina and we met doing community theater.
I got in trouble in elementary school for making noises with my mouth - mimicking animals and creating voices of my own. In High School I did a ride along with Brian Cummings who has been in the VO business for a long time. He suggested that if I wanted to get into the biz that I'd have to just get around the business as much as possible. In high school I was in our show choir but I was too shy to get into theater. I waited until College to get into theater and still love it. I did a little radio DJing at the Jr college and thought that Broadcast Journalism would be a good major at the University I transferred to. Turned out I'm not a Journalist but an Actor, but I graduated all the same. I just signed up for a VO class with Scott Shurian who told me about this website (my first class was last Wednesday). And yesderday I got my first gig through the University my wife attends. I don't think it pays anything since it's a student thing but at least I know that people like my voice. It's a narration for a childrens video. I am super excited.
Well that's me so far. I look forward to learning much from all of you and hopefully someday teaching kids like me a thing or two about VO work.
Thanks,
Kyle |

welcome, Kyle!
This sure is the finest VO bb on the web (it might be the only one that gets more than one post every few months also).

Welcome Kyle,
I've been a member of the Board for a little over a month, and it's meant more than most books I could read on the subject.
FWIW, I've been in broadcast news for almost 30 years, and I can tell you I'm expected to be more "actor" and less "journalist" by the day!

Where's the X from... well there are a few meanings there - where do I reside? Where did I grow up? Or Where did I get the nickname X?
I currently reside in Provo Utah.
I grew up in Newhall California.
This nickname has always been my nickname. It's my favorite letter of the alphabet for no specific reason. I started in chat rooms 22 years ago and this has always been my alias. |

Thanks Frank. I am super excited to get started in this business. I have wanted to my whole life.
Park City is the Beverly Hills of Utah County - do you love it up there? |

Greatest snow on earth... and I cannot use it right now... but, yes, my backyard IS the resort. Literally.
