"Kent, I'm having my own baby!"
"You mean before Dr Cabernet reassigned your gender from man to woman you made yourself pregnant?"
"Yes! It's true! I'll be both father and mother to this child Kent and I'll love it more than my own parents who died in the air crash just outside Baltimore after eating each other to survive. Now get ME A DRINK!"
"Darn you all to heck, Quaybored! I need a drink too!"

I heard one of our County Commissioners say this about that.
"A Soap Opera is the only place where a woman can be pregnant for 13 months and still deliver a premature baby" _________________ Esse quam videri "To be rather than to seem"

I am hopelessly hooked on The Archers, via podcast from BBC radio Radio 4 thanks to certain "British" influences.
It's a 15-minute radio drama every day but Saturday — downloadable in the early evening in the eastern states. It's about life in the farm village of Ambridge, England and believe you me, you'll become devoted to the business of raising pigs and sheep in a way you never thought possible.
It's easy enough to figure out who's who just by listening a bit. The acting is splendid. Splen-did. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

It seems when I was living in Leeds, the entire place closed down around 4pm to watch Neighbours... some Aussie soap with Kylie Minogue.
Other than catching a few glimpses here and there, the only soap I'm hooked on is Dial. _________________ Dave "Christi" Felton

I was hooked to General Hospital during the "Luke & Laura" days in the 80's, but nothing since...hmmmm...time to check out the Archers!

I'm hooked on "The Young And The Restless", and I'm not apologizing for it. Now I want to check out "The Archers". |

I know what you mean.
I don't go near them anymore for fear I won't be able to get away!
Used to be firmly stapled, glued, and taped to Days of Our Lives.
Have to quit cold-turkey with these things. |

aren't evening shows basically soaps as well? Lost, 24, Boston Legal...
episodic drivel to entertain a tired mind? Star Trek was one heck of a soap opera...

Mexican Soaps. I always watch at least one - sometimes two. The great thing about them is they actually END. They don't go on for 53 years. They usually last about 6 months or so.
Of course there are only 3 plots. They just rehash them in different times and places... you know - variations on good girl (sometimes poor, sometimes not) naive guy (aren't they all?) and super super evil machiavellian women.
They're great for keeping my Spanish up to date - but yeah, I enjoy them too.
And if we include evening shows - yeah, 24 and Lost - I don't miss those - and Fringe is the latest.
But tho' this isn't a soap - NOTHING beats House.
Now, what's this Archers stuff? Got me curious. |

Hmm, I think I may have misunderstood the question.
Was this about a) watching soaps or b) being in them.
If a) then no, can't stand them, would rather clip nails and wash hair.
if b) then yes, several times, thak you very much delighted to take the money, turn up on time and say whatever deathless prose is put in front of me to the best of my considerable ability. (Orson who????)
Did that cover the options?

One more vote for the Archers.
I used to watch Eastenders (a soap over here) till it got too depressing [I think that was right after the totally abused Moe had a go at her hubby with the iron].
I've been watching Mistresses, but that's getting me down as well! think I'll stick to the Archers and children's BBC!
