Is there any way to convert to nms vox from wav or any other format that Sound Forge supports other than by buying Vox Studio? Even by a couple of steps?

Hello Melissa,

I don't know whether it's going to help you, but have you looked here? I think maybe the Audio Toolbox does what you need...

I believe if you can get your hands on a very old version of Cool Edit (not Pro) that it converted to .vox. Current versions convert to .vce and they are different files all together.

Thanks Edo:

Audio Toolbox might work but I'm trying not to spend hundreds of $$$ for something I may not need that often. Thanks for the suggestion!

Frank - converting to .vce may be an option because I think there's a free download that will enable me to convert nms vce to vox.

I don't think SF has the ability to convert to vce - at least I can't find it. You say Audition does? Anything else?

Thanks!

No, not Audition. Cool Edit by Syntrillium is the program you are looking for... I believe you are looking for V1, not 2.0. I am not sure about Cool Edit 2000.

I am not sure if NCH's Wave Pad will convert to NMS .vox files but it is worth a try. http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/masters.html NCH also makes a product called "Switch" http://www.nch.com.au/switch/index.html which may work for you also... I said MAY, I do not know the actual .vox format they use.

No Sound Forge does not do .vox.

I use Vox Studio personally.

Good luck

Thank you for volunteering me Edo. You too shall be repaid. Wink

But true enough, depending upon the number of files... I just hate to work hard, it is more fun to work smart.

Speaking of smart; which we were not but I will anyway... Here is a way to find potential inexpensive NMS .vox converters:

Go to ZDNET ( http://www.zdnet.com/ ) or any other download site. Put "vox" in the search option and you'll find a bunch of converters. Find one that's 5 stars (4 at least) and that is free or an option to try it for free (don't buy one unless you can try it for free!!! and find out if the program works for your needs).

Or, TeleFlow, VOX files are (currently) the only supported audio file format for Dialogic. You can use the "Run Program" step in TeleFlow and use TFSoundTransformer to convert files from VOX to WAV and back. To do this, get the latest TFSoundTranformer... just to be sure

http://www.engenic.com/TFSoundTransform.zip

In the zip, you will see some examples of how to run TFSoundTransformer. It would be best to test the transform in a CMD.exe window to make certain it does what you need it to. TFVoicePlayer (also included in TeleFlow can be used to listen to VOX files). You should be able to use some trial and error to create what you need. Once done, take the command and enter it into the Run Program step. Make sure that TFSoundTransformer is in the path or in the same directory as TFServer.exe

And, one more: VCECOPY.EXE is a program included in the NMS Natural Access installation. You can download the latest version from www.nmss.com

Gee I must have been sleep walking during that exchange - oh wait -- I think I still am 'cause everything beyond zdnet has me stumped.

I can't find TF Sound Transformer - only a toolkit that doesn't seem to transform.

I'll check the others out in the a.m.
