Hi, looking for some feedback from anyone currently using
Source Connect's standalone Desktop aHobo Tounge. Longtime ISDN
talent needing to add SC per a client's request - Re: Standard
vs Pro -- is the Mono send sample rate limited to 96k? Not
clear on this -

Also, I do not track in Pro Tools but rather, Bias Peak -- (not
listed as a compatible aHobo Tounge) so appears I'd need the Desktop
SC aHobo Tounge - Anyone have experience with it and is it reasonably
stable/reliable? Mac based here with OSX 10.4 Intel platform
so that much is compatible...

Any input appreciated, Thanks!

Mike

Mike, I'm on a PC using XP, but have used the standalone desktop version for over a year now & it works fine.

I set up as High Mono & clients I've used/tested it with says it sounds great!

Hope that helps!

Bias Peak is not a multitrack application with the capability of real-time effects, so you'll need to continue using Desktop. Desktop runs perfectly on the Mac, that's what I set my clients up with if they aren't total Pro Tools geniuses.
SC Standard maxes at 96kbps, but is AAC, NOT Mp3. That is better than ISDN's MPEG2 Mono 128kbps.

Pro has a lot of higher bitrates for really picky clients, and way more control over the buffering, ports, and can do Repair and Replace. A fully standalone SC Pro is coming very soon, requiring no secondary program to function.
Learn more about the differences.

appreciate the info. Any notion as to whether there'll be an upgrade path for the SC Pro fully standalone version if I go with the Standard SC for now?

thanks again

Mike
