Hi there,
My very comfortable Sennheisser HD565's are starting to "cut out" on one ear and its impossible to listen - loose wire I guess.
Can anyone recommend a good replacement.
In this recession based economy cheaper will be looked on more favourably!

Thanks
TomBrom

I would recommend Fostex T-40's or for a bit less, the T-20's. They are both pretty flat response and well isolated headphones for their price. Or some of the cheaper AKG studio phones. I never found a pair of Sennheiser's with adequate isolation.

Don't they have replaceable cords?
Don't bail on those 565's yet, check this post:

I love the Beyerdynamic DT-770s, VERY comfortable and with good isolation, AND they sound good.

Hey everyone thanks for that.
I went to the link you sent George.
I confirmed it was the lead, but I can't see any for sale on ebay now unfortunately. Was a great find though!

Thanks
T

Spoke too soon, went to Sennheiser site and found replacement lead for 20 bcks. Hopefully that will give me HD565 another couple of years!
Thanks again!

Tom,

I've replaced the cord on my HD565s at least 3 times in the last however many years. It's one of the things I love about Sennheiser headphones. Replace-able parts.

Hi Bob,
We both have 416's and 565's and a broken cord - maybe we will end up on one of those Discovery Channel mystery shows!
Thanks for that!

I think I'm with David. Plenty of guts (the headphones, not David, necessarily).

Thanks for that David.
I saw your quote below- reminded me of what I saw on HGTV last night.
The American host introduces footage of British house search shows and said the couple were searching in the city of "Edinberg", looked very much like Edinburgh to me!

Once a Sennheiser user, always a Sennheiser user. I've been using them now exclusively for 36 years. I had two pair of 414's and I finally had to lay them to rest 4 years ago.

Yes, I'm a Sennheiser guy.

I still have a pair of DT100s that I left on the car roof when drove out of the BBC Scotland car park after a late duty in winter 1979. I retrieved them the next day, from the car park floor and wiped the mud off. They're not my day-to-day cans of choice nowadays, but they are still in the collection and they still work!

So the DT100's are tough.
Coming from the country that coined the phrase "Glasgow Kiss" - that must mean they are super tough!
