Using the Mbox1 and am just starting to hear static through the right side headphone....both front and back jacks (not running any sound out). Time for a new Mbox or is there a fix? If I replace the Mbox1 with an Mbox2 can I continue to run the same version of Pro Tools LE? _________________ www.chriskoprowski.com/en |

Chris,
This has probably been said a million times before... find out whether the static still happens when your Mbox is the ONLY thing hooked up via USB. Excessive USB load often leads to 'strange behaviour'. Quite possibly your computer has insufficiant power (on the USB slots) to drive all your USB equipment.
As for the software, no problem.
Good luck! |

I've got the Mbox plugged directly into my G5. And a powered USB hub plugged into the other USB port. With ONLY the Mbox plugged into the G5, I still get static. And plugging the Mbox into the powered hub, static.
Hm. _________________ www.chriskoprowski.com/en |

We'll just keep trying to find the cause of all this...
Please make sure there are no mains AC lines running parallel to signal cables, and check the presence of any lighting dimmers near where your Mbox is. This could well be RF-interference of some sort; dimmers cause strong magnetic fields sometimes. Does the static occur when you have cables plugged into the output and/or input jacks?
If it still happens, I'm sort of out of suggestions. Maybe it actually IS the Mbox trying to send you a message of retirement
Is there someone in your vicinity that also owns an Mbox1 who might be willing to lend it to you for a couple of hours to check the difference? |

I'm also using an RME AD-2 converter box and am monitoring out of that for now which seems fine. _________________ www.chriskoprowski.com/en |
