ok - this JUST started - as far as i know i have not changed ANYTHING. at random times when clicking on the "record" button i immediately get a SUPER loud peak - that sounds like a "click" - i thought at first my mic was picking up the physical "clicking" of the mouse - but that's not it. it is something electronic (electric?) - i don't know, but it's quite off-putting. any ideas? it doesn't happen every time - but MOST of the time.
it looks like this:

I get those bursts at the end of my PT recording events. I don't know why they're there— it's like a tiny echo of something that happened 1.5 seconds before stopping the recording. it happens most of the time, so I've gotten in to the habit of trimming the end of all regions, period. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Try uninstalling and then reinstalling both AA and the driver for your sound card/interface. That's what I would try. It sounds like something is corrupted. |

GP has the right idea, but first check your "Temp" hard drive space. This is a common problem with AA and deals with the lack of space or storage in the AA Temp file registry.
Next, if that solution does not provide relief look at your sound card as the culprit. Are the sample rate settings the same? Have you installed any software lately? Reset the sample rate settings and ASIO if you have and are using this for latency issues.
Now, you might try un-installing AA, shut down the computer, the re-installing the program.
Briefly, try slowing down. from start up time to first click of the mouse, pause just briefly. IF there is not enough HD space, this concept often resolves the issue temporarily.

I dunno...I run AA2 on an XP machine and AA3 on two different Vista machines and have never had this issue.
I have, however, had issues with recording on one of the AA3 machines whereby every now and again, a recording will be trash because it's riddled with pops and clicks. I think it's likely due to a power issue in my office.
I'm not sure if it's just coincidence, luck or what, but unplugging my audio interface, rebooting, then re-plugging it back in seems to work.
Maybe you're having a similar issue? Something in the electrical chain getting a bit "dirty" and causing those pops as the audio driver is switched on?
I would give something like the above a whirl before doing an uninstall / reinstall. _________________ Lou Zucaro
