Tonight as I was organizing my taxes and in not a happy way, I saw an email alert pop up from my blog on a post I wrote about the death of voice talent Brian James.

The comment posted was from Brian’s brother Mike.

Death stings for a long while for those left behind. Days, weeks and months are marked by family as anniversary points. “A week ago today….”, “A month ago today…”

On Monday, I went to a memorial mass for my Mother who died in 1988; Monday was her birthday. The sting lessens over time but its always there.

That’s what Mike was feeling today and my taxes will now be organized in a less grumpy fashion than was the case about a ˝ hour ago.

Friends, life is a gift, not a guarantee.

Peter,

Mike posted a comment on my blog this evening as well. I agree. Life is a gift.

"A little perspective from a brother"

This hit home on January 4 of this year when my brother passed away in his early forties.
It was not the way his family had hoped. I have not shared this with my voiceover colleagues before.

My mentor has also been in the hospital for a couple weeks now. He has battled cancer a couple
of times and will be returning home soon - where he will need quite a bit of assistance.

The VO-BB is a solid group of people who look out for eachother.
I have appreciated seeing that in the three plus years I have been a member.

Yes, life is a gift! I hope you all have the chance to celebrate Easter with loved ones.

Ralph -
I'm sorry to hear about your brother's passing as well. The world is only now just starting to spin at its normal pace following my mom's death...and you're so right about this place:

My dear friends from this board are a huge reason I've made it through the last month with my sanity somewhat in tow (although there wasn't much of that to begin with Rolls Eyes ).

Voice actors for the most part are really cool people. VO-BBers are the cream of the crop - once again thanks to our Twisted Mom for making a home for us....families do rock...especially twisted cyber families. Smile

Peter,

Brian was the voice guy on our CHR station: WBZN Z-107.3. We're still feeling the sting. Our prayers continue for his family and friends.

When I lost my oldest son at 17, in 1996, I thought we/I would never recover any sense of sanity or normalcy...I was wrong. We still miss him terribly, and we still have our moments, but things are a far cry better then they were.

Death puts things into perspective for those left behind. Even now we have a co-worker and long-time friend who is terminal (cancer). We're just a few weeks from our last goodbye. When things get a little rough around work or at home, we only need to remember.

Wonderfully touching and heartfelt thread. I have not lost a sibling.... but the sentiments reflected here rearranged by cranial neurons, touched my soul, and set my feet on a better path this week.
