Hello MAC peoples... I am looking for an alternative for the Mac for Outlook... NOT MS Enterourage...

It needs to support ALL of the Outlook functionality, specifically the ability to sync NOTES and TASKS from Exchange with my iPhone and my Outlook client at the other location.

This is the only thing holding me back from moving to the mac platform entirely as I've found Adobe Soundbooth works perfect for my application on the Mac as an alternative for Audition... and for the times when I need Audition, I can boot into XP with Bootcamp.

Justin,

You might want to have a look at Thunderbird from the good folks that have created Firefox.

Also, for an alternative to MS Office, check out OpenOffice from Sun.
I'm running this on Mac OS X and with Windows XP Pro. It works pretty much just like MS Office.

Apple says there will be Exchange support built into Mail, iCal, and Address Book in the next major release of OS X:

Should be out sometime later this year, I believe.

Thank you Jon, George, and TC.

It's good to hear about exchange functionality coming to the Mac, and having the ability to open multiple exchange accounts on the iPhone would be fabulous as I've got 2 and can only use 1.

Jon, does Thunderbird support notes and tasks functionality?

My entire life is inside Outlook, and with exchange, it integrates seamlessly into the iPhone and my work computer. So, if I make a change on a note or contact at work, it gets synced to exchange and simultaneously to my iPhone and home desktop. All in one program, no additional add-ons, etc. And they are all stored off-site, so if I have a computer problem I don't lose my work.

My understanding with MobileMe and the iPhone is that it doesn't sync Notes or Tasks over the air... that will be coming in the 3.0 OS scheduled for release this summer.

Mail won't have Exchange functionality for until the next major release of Snow Leopard.

Also, where is the data stored? In Outlook I have a couple of .PST files that I have set to automatically back-up with Carbonite, so if I have any problems and need to wipe the computer I'm backup and running quickly. With an exchange server it's even easier... I just add a new account and it pulls all my data in.

The system runs so well now I have a hard time thinking about changing it, but also don't want the PC sitting here just for that purpose.

Thanks again for all of the suggestions and PM's...

I found out that my Hosted Exchange provider provides MS Entourage 2008 in addition to Outlook 2007 as a no cost download... So, I'm trying it out.

So far, I love the interface. It was simple to set up, and my calendar and e-mail got pulled right in off the exchange server...

I still need to transfer the Notes and Tasks/To Do's in a program that will handle them and be able to be hosted somewhere and allow me to access from anywhere...

So far so good. I really appreciate the help!
