Looking for jobs to meet my unemployment quota, I come across this one, which pays $15 per hour: http://corestaffjobs.smartsearchonline.com/jobdetails.asp?job_number=31483
Quote: | Perform broadcasting activities, including announcing hold times and/or product and service information, using professional radio broadcasting techniques. Program appropriate music for hold lines. Broadcast to multiple music-on-hold sources. Provide special announcements for service-affecting issues. Compile daily reports of activity on hold lines. Additional Responsibilities include Audio event hookup in the game engine, game variable hookups with audio engine, coding of game-side audio tools and debug information, as well as possible high level DSP coding depending on experience. |
They want basic broadcasting activities, such as programming music, calculating hold times, etc. But look at the Additional responsibilites, which could be paraphrased as "Oh and BTW, if you could please program the audio codebase for our game, that would be great. thanks much."

OH, this is great. What a fantastic chance to say that for an additional $.15 per hour you'll blo...ooooohhh, wait, sorry. my bad.
On a serious note, is there any chance you can apply but point out that each expectation is an additional "X" per hour? I think I've finally figured out that most people posting jobs have no clue and are just ball parking it and open to talk.
This probably isn't a job you want but I'm learning from those around me who are on the hunt and having to report to the proper authorities that applying is better than not.
Thanks for posting this - it gave me a good giggle. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

Or you could use the Scotty technique.
I'll do it for 15 an hour, but it's going to take me three weeks on this read.
I could do it faster, but it would be overtime.

Suggestion... Raise their bar with a reality amount.
As Mandy said... They probably don't have a clue.

I'm not qualified for the job anyway, since I don't program. Just thought it was the strangest job opening ever. _________________ Jeff

There are already programs out in cyberspace for this application.
To me, this is a classic :... the uneducated and unsophisticated leading the blind into a pit of despair and trying to get champagne on a water budget.
