I was 15 years old, it was just after lunch and I stood outside the Deputy Headmaster's office waiting to for the "Come in".
As I stood there the Head Master walked along the corridor with some of the school governors. he nodded, tutted and then raised his voice whilst pointed the accusing finger.
"WHAT NOW BANKS? I don't want you in my school. If you don't pull your socks up laddie you'll never amount to anything. SORT YOURSELF OUT!"
I said nothing as the Head wandered down the corridor along with the governors who were suitably impressed with his cast iron grip on school discipline.
"Come in" I entered the Deputy Head's office. He asked me to sit down and proceeded to pass on his compliments on something I had done earlier that day. The official name for the meeting was "a Headmaster's commendation" and within the school it was it was considered a big deal.
I said nothing and was excused complete with my proverbial pat on the back.
34 years later that 15 year old boy is still alive and well and he still doesn't give a sh*t what grown-ups think about him.

You could've told your headmaster to "put a sock in it"...probably would've earned you a fast, permanent trip home. _________________ Bobbin Beam
