Kara Edwards did make it to North Carolina. Chadd Pierce, Donovan Corneetz, Rowell and I all joined her for lunch and conversation in Raleigh Sunday afternoon in a joint meet-up of VO-BB folk and celebration of Rowell's birthday.

As you can see, we made sure the rose was in front of the thorns. From the left, Donovan, Kara, Rowell, Chadd and me.

thank you for helping to make it one of the best birthdays i can remember.

between our visit with kara and friends and your "guest appearnace" with my sunday night movie group for our annual cookout (made possible by massive amounts of work from my wife, lisa, and the kids - marilyn and ricky), then having you stay for a movie in the cluttered home theatre...i can't remember a day when i've felt more celebrated with so many friends.

as with your standard "God bless you", you make "happy birthday" much more than just a simple catchphrase.
