VO-BB - 20 YEARS OLD!

For the first time in as long as I've had a PayPal account (2005) I have had unauthorized charges charged!
$1200 worth!
I have filed an unauthorized charges claim but it's freaking me OUT!

CRAP!!!!

It's from a company called eSellerate - Camshare LLC

Luckily I saw this within an hour of the charges being made.

OK...breathing a bit now...sort of...well...not really...right now I'm not actually out any $$ because since it's disputed PayPal won't touch my bank account...I just feel really violated...I know that sounds weird, but I do....I know I didn't authorize these transactions, but what if some fast-talking BASTID at this eseller-fraud-of-a-company convinces some PayPal employee that I DID?????

I'm pretty confident that PayPal will see this for the fraud it is...at least I HOPE so (am I see-sawing or WHAT! ACK!)...but in any case I am ready to fight this till it gets resolved correcetly in my favor!

Crazy question. Is your paypal account related to the e-mail on your website or otherwise easily googled?

I know of a few folks who got nailed because their e-mail account on their webpage was the same as the one used for their paypal accounts. PayPal security isn't too good at vetting, so there are folks who'll aggregate e-mails for this very purpose.

Maybe that's how they knew your account (since your PayPal account is your e-mail addy), but maybe not. Regardless, I hope that nobody here uses the same e-mail account for both (especially with how things are today, it's cake to have a separate e-mail with your domain name to use specifically for that purpose).

Liz,

Sorry to hear about your PayPal issue. I had an account cracked last year but certainly not for the amount you were hit with. The PayPal folks did a great job to get the funds back and got everything right for me. I did freeze the account indifferently after that though.

Just out of curiosity, did you do any sort of PayPal transaction with a small company that might be associated with the one that got to your account. Mine got hit after I paid for software from an online company that I later found out were from Russia.

Another suggestion, if you are running Windows, have you computer scanned for any sort of HiJack or SpyBot software that could track your key strokes and thus provide others with your account access. Its just a hunch.
