Bigfish sent me an audition a few days ago and I liked the look of it. TV commercial for Seattle Mariners (a cricket team). Opens on a shot of a rubber duck in the middle of the Mariners Cricket pitch and my job was to give him a voice. the tag line is to be done by a VO pro in the colonies, I did it just because I could.
I doubt the job is mine but I enjoyed the Tuesday AM warm up.

Simon,
I've booked several national (US) television and radio commercials through Big Fish Voice Company. Some other smaller projects, too. _________________ Be well,

Thanks, Bob. That's restored my faith somewhat. I've been auditioning for occassional Big Fish jobs for the past 4 years or so without success and you do begin to wonder. Maybe I'm just no good at this job! _________________ Simon Fellows

This is a phenomenal audition, Philip. I've listened to it 3 times now to catch all the nuisances. I can't say whether it will book, but I'm sure it'll stand out. _________________ Joe Szymanski

Joe, thanks for the kind words. It simply made me laugh for the right reasons. We're all familiar with scripts which make us laugh for the wrong ones.
Picking up on Simon's point. I too have booked probably 8 or 9 thousand jobs with Bigfish, most for intergalactic TV campaigns. The last cheque they sent me was so large that the currency movement from the US dollar to Sterling prompted a visit from the Buckie Police to investigate claims of money laundering. When I explained that the proceeds from my drug and human trafficking were kept in another account they left with my file marked. No notes, just a mark. Jazz had been to the beach so I think the mark was sand and would dry eventually and be easy to remove. |
