Someone in the Ogunquit Art Association is supposed to take over maintenance of the website I designed and built for them.

He's looking for recommendations for applications to use.

Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss

Yeah— my fave.

He's looking for something less pricy.

I'm still an Adobe GoLive fan.

it's just nice to work in the entire Adobe CS.

Deirdre,

Depending on whether the individual in questing is a PC or a Mac, on the PC I love the editor from CoffeeCup Software. And it's way less expensive than the higher priced spreads.

Know a college student? Get them to purchase one of the Adobe suites for about half price.

Better yet, I build everything on a CMS... Wordpress, Joomla, etc. Easy peasy for clients to update after some minor training.

Have a great weekend. I'm off to Sweetwater in Fort Wayne for Gear Fest 2009.

Dreamweaver would be number one. If you can find a copy, Homesite would do the trick. Or Visual Studio Express, Web Developer.

I second NVU. I tried a few expensive programs, but none had much to offer or were easier to use than the free NVU program.

It really is a great program for free, and has the ability to edit your pages right on the server, if you are still using html as the main platform... I've been programming in PHP for years, however, this comes in handy when I need to lay out a table, etc, then I copy the code into the rest of the script.

I've been playing with Dreamweaver the past couple of days with a client of mine. Boy, for a designer it's like stepping back to the 80's.

GoLive may have had some faults, but it was so much easier to design in. Dreamweaver wants you to design with tables. Pleh. I'd rather code html.

I'm going to look at NVU for them.

I've been using Dreamwaver CS3 for about a year now and it is not too bad. I like it much more than FrontPage. In the past I used TextPad for both HTML and Java programming as well. And of course I still use vi in Unix to make fine adjustments when needed.
