Okay...so here's my situation....I'm on a mac with Windows XP Pro installed through boot camp. I had planned on learning ProTools but in the end I wanted to be on Adobe Audition. Here's my prob....XP installed fine and boots up...I'm able to open up AA and it recognizes the Mbox2 in the setup portion where the ins/outs are........but I can't get the USB light to come on with the Mbox2 nor the SPIDF light when I go to record in AA. Again, it sees Mbox2 as an option in the setup but the light doesn't come on the Mbox2 at all??? Works fine when I'm on the Mac OS in PT. Is this a driver issue with Windows XP?? Do I need to install PT on XP as well to get the right drivers??? My question was, if it was the drivers, how is it recognizing the Mbox2 in the first place?? I'm sure many are asking....why'd he get a mac only to use a Windows based DAW??? Well, truth is, I love the mac but don't need a Ferrari (ProTools) to get somewhere when a Ford Fusion (Adobe Audition) gets me to the same place:) Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

Win XP on Mac does not play well with USB devices... The program may recognize the drivers for the sound card but the USB device may or may not be recognized by Windows on the Mac.

Which Mac are yu using? If a tower, consider a PCI card or firewire sound card (Win XP seems to understand the protocol better for both platforms).

Look for a workaround on the internet, there are several sites which will help instruct you.

This is a known Win/Mac issue but since I am not much of a Mac guy I cannot help you other than sharing my research knowledge with you.

Good luck.

i'm on a iMac with 2.6ghz intel........not to get too informational...but this is a "borrowed" copy of XP that I have installed...would that make a difference??? I'm wondering if I would have the same issues if I hooked the Mbox2 up to a PC with Windows preinstalled...

You can try the ASIO driver (Windows) or CoreAudio driver (mac). Both are available from the Digidesign website and see if that works.

ASIO is not supported in Audition ver 1.5

Ver 2.0 was the first version of Audition to support ASIO

Same discussion from last year...

Again, if you look up the specs for AA 1.5, it's clearly stated that ASIO is not supported.

ASIO4ALL is not a true ASIO driver, It basically attaches itself to the WDM kernel. It is a wrapper which at some point uses the OS audio stack. If your device or software supports true ASIO it would be far superior as it allows the application to talk directly to the hardware, bypassing any kernel.

Translated, its a hack. Its kind of like using crack software. It may work for a while but when you least expect it, it'll wet the bed on you.
