Yes, another installment in our largely unpopular feature where we get to talk about our brilliant careers - Or in my case, blundering through life buggering it up most of the time but somehow getting by.
Monday - Spent the weekend in Skye so didn't get back home until 4pm. One session for a radio station in Dubai, commercial for a business publisher.
Tuesday - ISDN session at 11.15am voice of an animated super hero for a TV commercial promoting a visitor attraction in Edinburgh. 1630 session for a pharmaceutical company which as always was great practise in making something dull sound interesting.
Wednesday - 9.30am Corporate video for an oil company talking about asbestos. 1430 More pharmaceutical stuff. 1630 Promo session for CNBC one for Bernie Madoff special and another .......nope, can't remember.
Thursday - 9.00am Session for production company in Sweden selling the delights of Swedbank. 1400 Honeywell require a series of security announcements for reasons unknown to me so I spend time saying "ATTENTION,ATTENTION. Would Mr Susan Humperdink please report to the ladies thingy dispener, level five washroom and Sam7 missile firing range". 1730 MORE PHARMECEUTICAL STUFF ....I think the head of pills and potions is stalking me!
Friday - 11am Radio commercial for a posh eaterie somewhere foreign. 1645 ISDN audition session for a "take the rest of the year off" gig if the ad agency chooses me. If I don't get it 1730 ..........YET MORE PHARMECEUTICAL STUFF
Still awake? |

Philip,
I always enjoy these. As it happens I've been on holiday all week, so things have been a bit more light than usual. Like you I'm making a mess of things much of the time, but somehow stumbling through.
I did manage to squeeze in a couple of corporate narrations, 2 commercials for an ad agency in Nevada, and a spot of production for an on-going client in Pittsburgh.
Aside from that I've been completely useless, which is exactly how vacation time should be spent. _________________ Be well,

hmm on Monday we got a portion of the portico roof built and was interupted by a phone call to do a voice dubbing gig in Joysee.
Tuesday received TWO outstanding checks from clients! WOOO! Then back to the portico roof
Wednesday, it rained, I went to the movies and saw Public Enemy, after that took Cathy out to dinner.
Thursday, received updated copy of a DVD of a video I voiced, short film on tractor pulls. (they spelled my name wrong, and sent me the corrected version) There's a note on the DVD that the producer wants to use me for two more projects.
Friday back to the portico roof in between the rain drops, all the rafters are up and hurricane tied, next is sheathing and shingles.
Saturday, more roof work and the new chicken coop arrives!
Sunday, slept in till 9, figured out what I'm getting my sister for her birthday today, (Hosta) and will play online and craigs list till 10:30am.

Oh, I wanna play.
Monday: Big IVR job for an Irish client that runs 'pay ahead' parking garages - lots of prompts with "Press Hash"...which for a Yank is hard to get used to saying. Also - two outgoing phone messages, one MOH and two spots for regular clients (including local amusement park)
Tuesday: Finish editing IVR job - send to Ms. Liz who converted file for me (thank you!!) One MOH, One rewrite on Monday's outgoing message (yea, get paid again) and quick imaging gig for NH Public TV
Wednesday: Three MOH jobs for client I said I would do no more work for unless/until they paid my overdue invoices- they paid, so I did the jobs. (Year of the spine continues One spot for Connecticut agency I haven't heard from in a while and actually had time for a few auditions.
Thursday: My cousins came up to see my dad at the nursing home- took the whole day off.
Friday: Took the kids to the amusement park which I do the spots and in park announcements for (the job my children are most proud of). Got there early, stayed late and actually saw the SUN! Woo Hoo! _________________ Moe Egan

Crikey— it's Sunday already?
I didn't work for CBS this week, so it was a bit more fluid.
I moved my studio monitors to a new place, but my power ampp got blown in an electrical storm so I may patch in my on-the-road Mackie. Seems nuts, but it's just sitting there otherwise.
Spent a few hours trying to figure out how to figure out how to use a Zephyr Express. Still haven't gotten to testing its preamps.
Installed a whole new light in the Camp Cooper Studio after trying out a rheostat for the old light fixture. Finally threw in the towel and got everything new. New Switch, New Lamp.
I did some VO for my power company client, engaged in correspondence with half-a-dozen dialog directors in order to prepare a proposal for an "Audio Short" talk at the Austin GDC in September, received a check for the latest website and half the fee for the previous website, and in celebration, blew a few bucks on some Yamato Tandem Twin figures.
Got the Treasure World game, and discovered that neither Bruce nor I are listed in the credits. I'm a bit peeved.
The game is interesting but a bit confounding. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Update:
Bruce and I are not in the printed credits in the booklet, but we ARE in the animated credit roll.

Did an IVR job for a local fire-safety company today. In one take, too. Very unlike me.
Oh...should I wait until Friday to talk about the week? I know, this ain't exactly Twitter. _________________ Great Voice. Great Choice. For Voice Talking and stuff.

The week past was a bit of bore. Recorded some audio for 17 "Independence Day" celebrations across the country. Met the Jonas Brothers and Glenn Beck at the local event on Saturday.
Have been referred to a Media Attorney in LA for representation and introduction to the world of big time movie trailer voices. Spent two hours on the phone doing conference calls with him and several talent agencies and motion picture studios - (that was interesting).
A few narrations, several commercials, and a couple of other ditty's took up the rest of the week. It was a slow week.
Toodles

I was on holiday in Moab riding 4-Wheelers with my kids. My camera is still in Utah and I hope to get it back with photographic evidence still in tact.
I did do one EXHAUSTING piece of work:
While sitting in the desert sipping iced tea and waiting for my turn to ride, I got a call from a previous client saying they wanted to lift my VO from the recording I did for the TV spot and use it for the radio. National use, 13 weeks (may turn into 26+), AFTRA rates. She just wanted to know where should they send the check.
I'm pooped. _________________ Dave "Christi" Felton

put together a Japanese-language Corporate-Character demo; did an English as a Second language video voiceover; am enjoying watching the Dr. Who spinoff Torchwood, all this week (oops! that has nothin to do with VO-- on the other hand, somebody's having fun doing some really creepy sounding kids' voices). _________________ Intuit and do it!
