Just put together a wee vocal booth today (ala Hogan's porta booth, but bigger and sturdier - as it's for everyday use) with some accoustic foam bought from ebay on the inside, a sturdy surround and thick material attached to the outside.

What a difference in the sound! I'm so pleased and surprised. Gotta change my settings now! Smile

cheers...

We'd love to see photos.

Cats like these little sound enclosures, too.

Good for you and I'd love to see some photos as well. Right now I'm sitting in my living room listening to my neighbors' air conditioners. Sounds like they are going down the run way getting ready to take off.

Very cool! Chrissy, perhaps this is something we should make for you...it might be just the ticket for that room.

What do you do? Memorize the copy? How can you read the script with that
setup? (I'm being serious)

I wondered about that too! Gasp How am I going to read the copy!

But ...I rigged up a holder using a clip, from which the copy hangs near the upper right corner of the booth (the clip gives enough of a drop that the actual copy hangs just beneath the bit that juts out). So I don't even have turn my head back and forth, the copy is almost (but obviously, not exactly) right in front of me, slightly above and to the right of the mic. I also have the usual copy stand where I keep the copy for projects of multiple pages and then clip the page that I'm working on in front of me.

And, while on holiday this week -- I also got a chair/stool (with a back) from Ikea, which puts me at a perfect height for when I want to sit, or do that half sitting/half standing thing for long projects.

p.s. I got an email from one of our vo-bb gang, who saw the piccies and then built one of these for himself using just the foam and a box that he bought. So, this is really just the way mine turned out, but it can be changed, adapted to suit individual setups & tastes.
