I am hoping for a little knowledge here. I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate and am using AA 1.5.
The issue I am having is when I record and make a mistake, I stop and delete the offending phrase, but when I try to restart the recording, AA won't record.
I have found that closing the program and re-opening the program does nothing.
The only way around it seems to be to click the "infinity" button in the playback controls area several times.
I am pulling my hair out on this one, and I don't have alot to pull out thanks to old age, so if anyone can help, I will buy you a cold refreshing e-beverage of your choice.
Thanks and have a nice day. _________________ Does life start at 40? |

Hi Kasey,
Is it possible that the software is resetting the device order (for whatever reason) and changing your sound card preference? I use 3.0 and get the same problem on occasion. I have to go into the "Audio Hardware Setup" (a 3.0 feature) and 'remind' it what sound card to use, and it goes back to normal operation.
Good luck! _________________ www.dereksvoice.com |

Some good suggestions that I will try, thanks.
I had installed WaveRT driver for my Echo Mia soundcard, but have since installed the older version for Vista to see if that may be the culprit. I will let you know how it goes, and thanks once again! _________________ Does life start at 40? |

My Echo Audiofire drivers were so whacked out for Vista 64 that I just had to jump ship to a Fast Track Ultra USB 2.0. I've always had nothing but headaches with firewire (Presonus and Echo interfaces)...even with XP and a proper TI chipset. Fortunately the FTU converters are comparable to the Echo/Onyx/RME and the built in pres are actually good.
AA3 has been a bit of an odd fish for me at times. Audacity has been fine, and Reaper is actually really nice, rock solid, and works with Vista 64 no problems.
Good luck. It seems like Echo doesn't have their act together with drivers that work beyond XP. Even their "fix" for Vista 64 doesn't work with Vista. Echo blames Vista...however, other manufacturers have no problems with drivers that work with Vista. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

So here is an update. The Media Player in Windows 7 and the Echo Mia MIDI soundcard don't play real nice together when incorporating Adobe Audition 1.5
In Fact, Media Player in Windows 7 does not like ANYTHING playing with "it's" preferred sound card AT ALL!
What I have done to remedy the situation (because I use both the media player and Audition at the same time) is to make my onboard soundcard the default card and the Mia as my output for Audition.
I just may install my older Soundblaster card just so I don't have to say that I am using an onboard sound device, but it is a high def onboard device and sounds great. _________________ Does life start at 40? |

Wow - good detective work, and thanks for all the info. I'm planning on upgrading to Windows 7 as soon as its released publicly in October, and I use AA 1.5 exclusively. I'd rather not have to transition to another sound program _________________ Adam

Dummkopf,
If you use 2 sound cards in the system, you will be ok. What I did was to point my AA to the Mia and my system to the onboard card. I have a decent sound card in my system and can't hear a difference when listening to both side by side so I am cool with that. Besides, for what I am doing at the moment, using the internal sound card works for me.
You can probably still upgrade to 7 and work it this way, just have your high grade card used with Audition and your system with another. I love Windows 7, that's why I spent sop much time trying to figure it out and configure it to work. 7 runs everything so much faster and the desktop gadgets are great. I do have a partition with XP installed as a "just in case" back-up. _________________ Does life start at 40? |

Wow, I'm so glad you shared this with us. My Echo Mia MIDI is sitting here waiting to be installed (I'm dumping my external Soundblaster because it's not so good anymore) and I was thinking of going to 7. Lots to think about and play with! _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

Glad I could help Mandy.
If anyone knows a work-around, I would love to hear it. I prefer to use my Windows 7 the way I was using XP with just the Mia MIDI. _________________ Does life start at 40? |
