Man, I'm trying to buy more and more local. I want to be like Barbara Kingsolver and have my own little farm, just enough to sustain, share and enjoy with my family and neighbors. Her book "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" was very enjoyable and she's actually quite a good audio book reader.
I'll miss bananas. They grow here in the desert but not easily.

We've been going to the local farmers market more and more. Out here in the NW there's such a great selection of fruits. My next door neighbor has a garden that's overflowing and he demanded I come any time and take what I want. He's the one that gave me fresh fish and dungeness crab too. Ya gotta love neighbors like that! |
