How do the payment terms work with audiobook publishers in the US/UK? On my side, the publishers insist on paying ONLY when the product hits the shelves, which may be anything from 3 to 6 months (or they could close down in this time). Is this the same terms as you get there? I find it pretty ridiculous, as I prefer to pay talent upfront, but doing so interferes with my cash flow. _________________ Mandarin Chinese Voiceovers & Localization

Every audiobook I've done, from self-published direct deals with authors to relatively large publishing companies involved my payment being due not later than 30 days after delivery of the finished audio. I've never heard of having to wait until the product is published. _________________ Be well,

My experience is the same as Bob's. I get paid within 30 days of the files being delivered.
Waiting for the book to be published is unacceptable and frankly, irrelevant to the work performed. Don't give them an excuse not to pay you.
On the flip side, don't expect payment upfront, either. _________________ Jeff

Thats what I thought. This is silly system, but seems to apply to all work with publishers here. I've done proofreading and my wife has done translation for them and also the same deal. _________________ Mandarin Chinese Voiceovers & Localization
