OK, this has been bugging me for years. While I don't like to record with headphones on, I'd like the option for some things. But I can't. I've never been able to.
I'm using an ART Tube USB pre going right into my computer, no mixer.
I've tried plugging my headphones into the output of the pre and get nothing (with output nob all the way to +5db). I plug it into the soundcard (Audigy) and I can hear playback, but not while recording.
Is there no way for me to monitor the input?? _________________ Jeff

What is your signal path and software/computer?
Many recording programs allow you monitor during recording as an option, might also be in your sound card control panel...

mic > mic cable > Pre > USB cable > USB slot > Computer.
I use Audition 2 on XP. Never found anything in the control panel to allow this. _________________ Jeff

Hi There!
I have not used audition, and it's been more than a couple of years since I've used cool edit pro...
Here's a link that may help...

I'll keep searching as time permits,

Jeff-
I've used that exact same pre. I remember plugging phones into the 1/4 inch
output and getting a good signal. The local guy I sold it to uses it that way too. Odd. _________________ www.asapaudio.com |

I see no evidence of a headphone amp on this thing, you'll need to get one.
Or a small mixer... _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.
