Yes, the opportunity to become a Voice Over bore presented itself and I seized it.

Today is a Bank Holiday in the UK and so by 11.30am I'd done 2 corporate VO sessions and a TV commercial. I'm not complaining as work is work and no single job took too long.

As Jazz had run out of Rich Tea biscuits (harsh penalties would result due to local animal cruelty laws) I went to our local corner shop to re-stock.

As she stood at her till, Karen yawned loudly.

"Och, sorry. Don't think I should be working today" she said.

"I thought it was a UK Bank Holiday today and was expecting to do nothing. 3 jobs by 11.30" I shrugged as she put my shopping into a bag.

"Where do you work?"

"I work from home so it's ok, not as if I had to go anywhere"

"Computers is it?"

"No"

"What then?" Can't really duck that one.

"I'm a Voice Over, in other words I just read out loud."

There then followed the stage 2 interrogation, who ,what, where, when and how?

Tonight while Karen's hubby is settled in front of his favourite TV programme his wife will change channel and wait patiently for a promo.

"See that? Hear that Mannie's voice?"

"Aye, fit aboot him?"

"He comes intae the shop"

"Aye?"

"AYE!"

Life changing stuff eh?

Phillip, I know you live a bit north of the border... but for some reason - in my mind's ear - Karen sounded more Yorkshire. (All she needed was an "ee bah gum")

Sorry. I'll work on my Scottish.
