Hey folks...

Well, here we go again. VOICE2010 has started their so-called "promotional" campaign by sending out a formal invitation.

Guess what?

They didn't provide any details about who was going to be there - but they're still asking for money, regardless.....which prompted me to write this:

http://www.toddschick.com/VoiceoverVOICE2010.htm

Enjoy!

Regards,

TS

If you are a Naysayer regarding this particular event you run the risk of being ostracized by the Voice Overist community, fortunately that's not very important.

I enjoyed the piece written by Todd very much.

Yeah...that already happened back in 2007 when James blew his stack; apparently....for some odd reason, James seems to take exception to the discussion of revenues regarding this event.....go figure.

I don't agree or disagree with you, Todd because, I've never attended a Voice conference. But I would caution you to make sure you have all of your facts correct on your rant. With a supposed $250k payday, they can hire a lot of lawyers...

Mr. Schick,

Are you jealous because you either did not come up with the idea yourself or because you were not invited to speak? Are you just a negative person?

If you are jealous then develop your own function offering what you feel the trade needs and desires. If you are angry because you were not invited to offer your words-of-wisdom during the original happening; then develop something constructive to offer the industry which would be in-demand from a consumer point-of-view. If you are simply a negative person - change.

Whatever your reason(s) for the vituperation I would suggest you use proper English grammar.

As Mr. Kafer suggested so eloquently "...make sure you have all of your facts correct on your rant". Just because you are Canadian does not mean you are immune from prosecution.

Good luck with your version of the event in Canada.

Why on earth would ANYONE attend Voice2010? I don't care, it's none of my business.

Why should anyone want to hand over hard earned money to the organisers of VOICE2010? Because it's something they want to do and far be it from me to convince them otherwise.

Todd may want to convince people to stay away from VOICE2010, will he? His opinions are valid but as to whether they are valued time alone will tell.

For the record, VOICE2010 for me would be a business trip and as such I would need to see a measurable return on my investment and as with previous events I have failed to discover from where this return might come so for that reason I choose not to attend.

While those who followed discussions on the last VOICE event will know that I am no fan of James and Penny and how they advertise and run their events, please know that Todd seems to thrive on making people angry with flaming diatribes on popular institutions, people, equipment, whatever. He loves riling up people and sitting back and watching the battle.

I'd like to suggest we don't give him the pleasure of our pain.

Maybe as we get closer to the actual event (it is almost a year away) we can discuss who's going, and not going, and why. Ten months of trash talk isn't healthy for anyone.

Thank you,

Bruce

Yah know,

The next time I write an article like that, I'll have to include a prediction of Frank's comments, because when he's got nothing valid to say, he says the same thing....over and over and over again.

For the record, I was invited Frank. I chose not to participate until such a time that I deem the conference worthy of putting my good name behind it. When the organizers ask for money, but can't pony up a lousy program for the show......no, I'm not going to go speak at it.

And what would I say, anyway? I wouldn't be selling anything like the rest of the speakers. I don't have a cheesy book to sell, course to offer or website to promote. I only work with those that actually have talent - not those looking to acquire it simply by spending money.

Angry? No. Pointing out the truth in an effort to open up some eyes? Yes.

Perhaps it is you who are the one that's angry, FF. It's common knowledge that Jim and Tammy ran far and fast from you (and Voice123) after the first conference.....hmmmm....I wonder why? Might it have something to do with the immature behaviour clearly evident in your post here?

Indeed, you seem to be the only person around spewing this visceral crap (as usual) maybe you should take it over to VU where people seem to feed on that sort of stuff.......

Anybody other than Phillip have something intelligent to say?

So, if people don't agree with you, they're not intelligent?

Some people enjoy business conferences for the social aspects as much as anything. If people choose to spend their money on VOICE, that's their choice. What gives you the right to tell them it's wrong?

Stay classy Mr. Schick!

Let "Voice" live or die on its own merits.

I may never attend, but I don't see much purpose in attacking it, or the people associated with it.

All I can say is that I've had posts deleted that had way less nastiness and bile than many of these.

But that doesn't mean I don't enjoy reading them Smile

Now, now, steady on! I should point out that it is pure chance that the people who have disagreed with Todd so far lack intelligence.

As someone who considers stupidity part of my "Personal Brand" I must protest at your inference that lack of intelligence is a bad thing.

Hokey smokes!
I knew there would be some lively discussion about this event and of Todd's opinions, heaven knows I've been on the receiving end of it.

This thread didn't jump the shark as much as jump into the shark tank nearly instantly.

What the heck, you guys. Thanks to the folks who can keep it civil— the rest of yez— cool the ad hominem bullshit, or I'll blow this thread to kingdom come.
