Well it makes some sense. We had our hottest July ever in this corner of the Southwest and likely one of the hottest summers ever. Applying the Law of Averages, which rarely fails to disappoint, an extra cold winter in the Northeast seems logical.

From my reading, this global warming thing should probably be called "global extreme-ing" for while the Earth warms we're likely to get more violent storms, bigger droughts and nastier cold snaps. Fun.

Yeah— our "summer" here was practically non existent compared with other summer-style weather we're used to. It rained all of July and we had about a week of hot wx in August. On the other hand, we have the lushest forests we've ever had in my time here, and the turning of the leaves is going to be a long time coming— they should be hinting at it now, but I haven't seen anything yet. I expect a spectacular and long-lasting, if late, fall foliage season.
It was 45° this morning here at Camp Cooper.
I'll need a jacket for my morning briskie.

FWIW, the climate change models do predict extremes in weather as a result of the warming -- which means hot places get hotter,cold places get colder -- and occasionally you see these swings that make no sense.

last year I worked on a project about global warming and climate change and the science is just fascinating.

I worked on a documentary at The Weather Channel and was surprised at how many people there deny the common Global Warming theories.

Are the weather systems getting more extreme, or are we just more in tuned to it because of our global media. Twenty years ago I would be completely ignorant of heatwaves, or coldwaves in other parts of the world. I wouldn't have known or cared (sorry) that it was broiling in the Pacific Northwest. I have seen the evidence of the rapid changes to lakes and glaciers around the world, and the evidence is there that there is warming around the globe...but I think we're approaching the solutions from the wrong perspective.

In Georgia, we had two bad summers a few years ago and a drought. Those "in the know" predicted Georgia would become scorched and eventually have a dust-bowl savannah like landscape with the Southeastern US having a distinct weather pattern from the rest of the US.

Instead, we've had two subsequent cool summers with plenty of rain that have replenished the lakes and rivers. Fifteen years from now we'll probablly have another drought like this past one or the one we had in the 1980s.

LOL! The other thing that's freaky about the Coors cans is that the beer stays freakishly cold for a long time in those cans...to tie it back to the environment, I'm sure the chemical production of said cans isn't ducky for the planet.

Our hottest weather in So.Cal strangely enough is September/October, and primarily right NOW. Ugh!
